We have officially [read, finally] said goodbye to 2020 and hello to 2021. Here at Boulevard Bride we are looking forward to 2021 with great hope, anticipation, and excitement. Whether you just got engaged or had to postpone your wedding due to COVID, we sure are excited for you to marry the love of your life this year! To help you prepare for your 2021 wedding, we have put together a list of five of our favorite upcoming trends for this year. Honestly, we think 2021 weddings will go down in history as some of the most festive, fun, and colorful weddings in history. 2020 was a hard year for everyone and your 2021 wedding will be such a fun way to celebrate a new beginning.
Dont get us wrong, we love a great neutral color palette. We could scroll through Pinterest all day looking at blush pink and navy or cream and gold-tone wedding color palettes. But, after the dreary year that was 2020, we all deserve a little color. 2021 weddings will be bold, vibrant, and maybe even a little over-the-top. This use of vibrant and bold colors and patterns can be used in décor, floral arrangements, bridesmaid dresses, or even wedding dresses the choice is yours!
Take It Outside!
With social distancing and quarantining became a norm in 2020, we all watched far too many episodes of Netflix and Hulu. Getting outdoors and experiencing nature had a whole new appeal this year. On warm days you could find public parks and hiking trails filled with masked-up people who were just dying to spend some time in nature soaking up the suns rays. Because of this, outdoors weddings will be bigger than ever in 2021. We have gained a whole new appreciation for nature and nothing sounds better than spending a day with loved ones admiring the beauty around us.
Black Tie Not Optional!
Raise your hand if you spent the majority of 2020 in leggings, sweatpants, baggy tees, or comfy sweatshirts. Yeah, we see you and we did too. While we love being comfy, we also miss having a reason to dress up. We see a lot of 2021 couples opting for black tie ceremonies and receptions because of this. The couple and their guests will be dressed to the nines to make up for the lack of dressing up we did last year.
Let's Runaway Together!
One of the biggest positives to come out of 2020, is that it taught us who and what really matters in life. Weve learned to really stop and appreciate those closest to us. This has left many couples wondering if they even need the big wedding with lots of guests and partying. Many couples are instead opting for elopements in 2021. Whether its just the two of them or they include a few close family and friends, we bet youll be seeing more than a few Facebook friends eloping this year.
Now more than ever, people are extremely conscious about sustainability and living eco-friendly lifestyles. Were buying electric cars, shopping second-hand stores, and choosing to sell old clothes and items on apps instead of throwing them out. While the eco-trend has been permeating the wedding industry for several years now, 2021 will see a huge increase is sustainable and eco-friendly weddings. From second-hand bridesmaids dresses to mis-matched vintage décor finds, couples are going to opt for more sustainable options and less waste.
